A RUBY NATION
Ruby is New Zealand's national sport and its national team is considered to be the best ruby side in the world. The "All Blacks" won the last two World cups, in 2011 and 2015, and the team has a winning record of 77% in international matches. The All Blacks perform a "haka", or Maori war dande, before each match.
THE KIWI
This is New Zealand's national symbol - not the fruit, the bird! It's a nocturnal bird which can't fly, and it's now endangered. A kiwi can be quite fierce. "Kiwi" is also the nickname for a New Zealander! The logo for the Royal New Zealand Air Force is a kiwi.
